| August 26, 2004 |
Submitted by Stephen Spencer and Olivier Bruchez. The Out-of-Towners is available to purchase and download from the Apple Music Store (iTunes), one week prior to its worldwide release. More information from the ecmMusic mailing list: We thought we'd write you a quick note to let you know about a new development in the ECM World. For the first time ever, an ECM album is available through iTunes, and it happens to be none other than The Out-of-Towners, the new release from Keith Jarrett, Gary Peacock & Jack DeJohnette. Often referred to as The Standards Trio, this band is jazz's most consistently creative piano trio, and their new album, a live concert recording from Munich (home of ECM headquarters) in 2001, showcases them at the top of their game. At the end of the disc - rare for the trio's recordings - Keith Jarrett returns to the stage to perform a solo encore - a heart-melting rendition of "It's All in the Game." This first step towards making the music of ECM available through iTunes is very exciting, so be on the lookout for future ECM releases on iTunes. FYI - If you prefer to have the physical CD, please wait until next week to look for a copy of The Out-of-Towners - it will be available in the shops on August 31st. |
||

| June 3, 2003 | I just received a confirmation from ECM Records that "Scattered Words", the new book about Keith Jarrett, is not available anymore. From the Polar Music Prize newsletter: The Polar Music Prize will be presented on Monday for the twelfth consecutive year. The prizewinner this year is Keith Jarrett. The prize money is one million Swedish Crowns (approx USD 125.000 or EURO 110.000). Keith Jarrett will receive his prize from His Majesty The King of Sweden during a nationally-televised ceremony at Berwaldhallen, Stockholm. Her Majesty The Queen, HRH Crown Princess Victoria, HRH Princess Lilian, Deputy Prime Minister Margareta Winberg and Foreign Minister Anna Lindh will also join the many dignitaries and celebrities from industry, show business and media attending the event. The Polar Music Prize is the world's most unique and prestigious prize and was founded by Stig "Stikkan" Anderson through the donation he gave to The Royal Swedish Academy of Music. Anderson created the prize to recognize and honour outstanding achievements in music, at the same time as bringing together the different worlds of music. Another vision he had is being realised more and more each year. He wanted to see a celebration of music as such by using music and musically-inspired functions lasting several days. During the weekend preceding the ceremony, Polar Music Prize Days will take place for the first time this year. At the Stockholm Cultural Centre (Kulturhuset), the general public can enjoy seminars, concerts and an exhibition on the life and career of Keith Jarrett. This year's programme shown below illustrates how Stig Anderson's visions are being realised more and more. Programme of events Saturday 10th May
Monday 12th May
This internet radio station will be covering the banquet throughout the whole evening on Monday 12th May. |
